Overview

The Payment Methods section is where you manage how Pingtree charges your organization and how your organization receives payouts. You can add credit or debit cards for auto-billing, link bank accounts for ACH payments, and set up Stripe Express accounts to receive funds. Navigate to Settings > Payment Methods to manage your payment options.

Credit and Debit Cards

Pingtree integrates with Stripe for secure credit and debit card processing. Your full card number is never stored by Pingtree — only a tokenized reference from Stripe is retained.

Adding a Card

  1. Go to Settings > Payment Methods.
  2. Click + Add Card.
  3. Enter your card number, expiration date, and CVV in the Stripe-hosted form.
  4. Click Save Card.
The card is immediately available for use.

Setting a Default Card

The default card is used for automatic charges (e.g., auto-recharge when your balance drops below a threshold).
  1. Locate the card you want to set as default.
  2. Click Set as Default.
A checkmark or “Default” badge will appear next to the active card.

Viewing Card Details

For security, only limited card information is displayed:
DetailDescription
Card BrandVisa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.
Last 4 DigitsThe final four digits of your card number
Expiration DateMonth and year the card expires
DefaultWhether this card is set as the primary billing card

Removing a Card

  1. Locate the card you want to remove.
  2. Click Remove (or the trash icon).
  3. Confirm the deletion.
Note: You cannot remove a card that is currently set as the default while auto-recharge is enabled. Set a different default card first, then remove the old one.

Bank Accounts (ACH via Plaid)

For ACH payments, you can link a bank account directly to your Pingtree organization using Plaid, a secure bank connection service.

Linking a Bank Account

  1. Go to Settings > Payment Methods.
  2. Click + Link Bank Account.
  3. The Plaid connection window will open.
  4. Search for your bank and log in using your online banking credentials.
  5. Select the account you want to link and confirm.
Once linked, the account appears in your payment methods list and can be selected for payments.
Tip: ACH payments typically take 3–5 business days to settle. Plan ahead if you need funds available quickly for active campaigns.

Stripe Express Accounts (Receiving Payouts)

If your organization receives payouts from Pingtree — for example, as a network or marketplace participant — you can connect a Stripe Express account to receive funds directly.

Setting Up a Payout Account

  1. Go to Settings > Payment Methods.
  2. Click Set Up Payout Account.
  3. You will be redirected to Stripe’s onboarding flow.
  4. Complete the identity verification and bank details required by Stripe.
  5. Once approved, your payout account is active and ready to receive transfers.
Payout status and history are visible in your Billing section.

Security and Compliance

Pingtree takes payment security seriously:
  • Card numbers are never stored on Pingtree servers. All card data is handled directly by Stripe and stored as encrypted tokens.
  • Bank credentials are never stored by Pingtree. Plaid handles authentication and only shares a secure access token with us.
  • All payment pages use HTTPS encryption.
  • Stripe is a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor — the highest level of certification available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have multiple cards on file? Yes. You can add as many cards as you need and designate one as the default for automatic charges. What happens if my default card expires? Stripe will attempt to update the card details automatically via the card network. If that fails, you will receive an email notification prompting you to update your payment method. Can I pay invoices manually instead of auto-pay? Yes. Navigate to Billing > Billing Report to make manual payments against open invoices at any time. Is ACH available for all organizations? ACH via Plaid is available to US-based organizations. Contact your Pingtree account manager if you have questions about ACH availability for your account.
