Custom Fields

The Custom Fields feature is a great tool which lets you add an element of customization for lead data you're collecting. Say you're working with a publisher and you'd like to have them pass over certain lead data that's very specific to a campaign. In many cases, platforms will require you to ingest this data in a default misc. field such as "sub1" or "adv2". With Custom Fields, you're able to tailor the way you ingest data exactly to your liking.

Example: You have an active auto insurance campaign to which you're receiving lead traffic from an affiliate partner. This partner informs you that they are collecting the following user information. First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number, Insurnace Type, and Insurance Provider. While the first 4 data points are common and will be reflected in the lead fields you have by default, the last two are a bit more specific.

In this scenario, instead of having this partner send your this data in a non-specific field like Sub3 and Sub4, you are able to create a custom field with a naming convention to your liking such as Insurance_Type and Insurance_Provider.

Custom Fields will help you keep your data organized and ultimately increase efficiency in your peformance analysis.

Using Custom Fields

Once a custom field is created, enabled and associated with a campaign, you will see this field appear within your lead routing views. From here, you will be able to ingest and send out data that matches the parameter.

Campaign Connection <> Custom Fields

You are able to add the custom field to a campaign(s) in the dialog box when creating the field.

Active Vs. Deactivated Fields

By selecting the toggle in the "Status" column, it will turn to blue thus indicating that the field is active for the select campaigns it's assigned to.

If the toggle is grey, this indicates that this field is deactivated and it will NOT appear as a field option for any campaigns it's assigned to.

Creating A Custom Field

Creating a custom field is quick and easy. Navigate to the "Custom Fields" tab within your Database Source section. Click the Create Custom Field button and enter the following information.

Field Name: The exact field structure in which the data value will be ingested

Field Label: How you will see the field name in the frontend

Data Type: Choose the format in which this data should pass through

Campaign: Choose which campaign(s) you want this custom field added to

Field Requirement: Indicate if you want this lead data to be a required field

Field Validation

With Field Validation, you are able to choose whether or not the field is required or optional. This is done by selecting the toggle while creating the field.

If you've indicated that the field is required, then lead data that passes through must contain this parameter for the API call to send back a successful response.

Setting Campaign Use

From within the custom fields view, you will select the "Actions" button drop down and edit the custom field.

Choose the Campaign drop down and associate all campaigns you wish to have this custom field for.
